Overview
Affiliated with CancerCare Manitoba, the Section of Hematology and Oncology provides comprehensive care to adults in Manitoba with cancer and serious blood disorders. It offers RCPSC-accredited residency programs in Hematology and Medical Oncology, as well as advanced subspecialty training.
Clinical Service
Ambulatory care is provided at three CancerCare Manitoba sites in Winnipeg and the Western Manitoba Cancer Centre in Brandon. Inpatient consultation is offered at St. Boniface Hospital and Health Sciences Centre, including a dedicated unit for complex hematological malignancies and BMT.
Education
The section offers undergraduate courses, residency programs, advanced training, and research opportunities from BSc(Med) to PhD.
Research
Research spans areas affecting patients with cancer and blood disorders, in collaboration with CancerCare Manitoba’s Research Institute, clinical trials, and translational research programs.
Administration
The section has 40+ faculty members and works closely with Family Physicians in Oncology, physician assistants, clinical assistants, and nurse practitioners.
