Overview

The tripartite mission for the Section of Cardiology, Department of Internal Medicine, Max Rady College of Medicine, Rady Faculty of Health Sciences, at the University of Manitoba encompasses research, education, and clinical care.

  1. Explore leading-edge basic science, translational, clinical, and population research that continues to redefine cardiovascular medicine in Manitoba.
  2. Train the next generation of leaders in academic cardiology.
  3. Provide exceptional care for patients at risk of or with established cardiovascular disease in the province.

Clinical Service

Providing cardiac care to individuals in Manitoba, northwestern Ontario, and Nunavut. Cardiac care is centered at St. Boniface Hospital, one of the busiest tertiary cardiac facilities in Canada.

Education

The Adult Cardiology Residency Training Program is a three-year program with 11–12 residents. Training is centralized at St. Boniface Hospital and covers clinical cardiology, noninvasive cardiac imaging, electrophysiology, and interventional procedures.

Administration

There are 31 full-time GFT cardiologists and 7 non-GFT cardiologists with academic and clinical responsibilities across cardiology subspecialties.
