Overview
The Section of Dermatology comprises a team of experienced faculty members dedicated to dermatological research, education, and excellence in patient care.
Clinical Service
Dermatology services are provided through private clinics in Winnipeg and Brandon, as well as an outpatient clinic at the Health Sciences Centre. Narrowband ultraviolet B (NB-UVB) phototherapy is available at private clinics in Winnipeg and Brandon, with additional units in Steinbach, Portage la Prairie, Winkler, and Dauphin. A year-round, on-call dermatology service provides coverage to Manitoba, Northwestern Ontario, and Nunavut. The section does not operate a dedicated inpatient dermatology unit.
Education
Students have the opportunity to engage in monthly journal clubs and clinical meetings and gain clinical skills with in-clinic teaching. Additionally, the section actively participates in the Mole Patrol and other Canadian Dermatology Association Volunteer initiatives.
Research
Current clinical research activities focus on inflammatory diseases including psoriasis, atopic dermatitis, vitiligo, hidradenitis suppuritiva, alopecia areata, and acne
Administration
The section is led by Section Head Dr. Marni Wiseman and comprises a team of lecturers, associate professors, and assistant professors.
